This map is about the struggles women had to face on the Oregon Trial. They had the hardest job out of everyone. They had to take care of their family before themselves and did not have any decisions.

Democracy

The definition of democracy is: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. This means that the people have the rights. This goes as far as electing presidents but in reality, leaders make the decisions. They decide if we go to war, even if we disagree. They raise taxes and we have to pay them. We don’t have the rights. If we did, we wouldn’t be getting arrested. If we had the rights, the saying would be “Don’t ask what you can do for your country. Ask what your country could do for you.”

Actions or Intentions?

People can intend to do something but it doesn’t always happen. Most people judge you by your actions. They don’t know what you were thinking and your intentions. If you have good intentions and something goes wrong, people wouldn’t care what you meant to do, it only matters on what happened. Intentions can’t change the world. Only actions can. It takes courage and strength to make an action. It only takes your mind to think of an intention. In the end, actions speak louder than intenetions.

To prevent convicts from not being capable for jobs, some cities are not asking applicants questions of any criminal history. They think this will prevent them from commiting new crimes. An average of 25 prisoners come back the next week. A former convict Shelton Tucker says that eliminating the Criminal History question would encourage more people to appy for a job. Supporters point to a study that says criminals that have jobs and high wages are less likely to go back to prison. If criminals cant get a job, then they will go back to what they know.

I was thinking, “Am I trying hard enough?” As hard as I try, I still think i could try harder. There are thousands of people that are doing this. Sometimes I wonder if I should give up. Very little people have the talent and dedication to pull this off. So I have to step up my game or its not even worth trying.

I think that opinions are stupid. They cause everything bad in this world. You have to sugarcoat it to make it seem better than it is.

In the 19th Century

Today is a big change from the 19th century. The biggest factor is obviously technology. Almost every change that has been made is because of technology. In this post, I’m going to compare how chores are different now from then. The women of that century did all the housework. The cooking, the cleaning, washing the clothes, etc. Cooking was done over the fireplace. Now we have ovens, stoves, microwaves that cook our food whenever we want, in a very short time. The women cleaned everything with soap and rags. Today we clean our furniture with special products that won’t damage the furniture. Just imagine being a woman back then. Today when the women clean, they can clean the clothes and cook food at the same time. Back then, washing the clothes took a while. And it’s not like throwing it in the washer machine and then dryer. It was scrubbing with soap and taking a long time to put on the clothesline. Back then was a lot harder than these days.
